Beck DVD Volume 3
Story
Looks like Ryuusuke’s BFF Eddy is gonna be coming to Japan, on tour with his band. Nice for Ryuusuke, he gets to see an old friend, but things could go differently for others.
Koyuki and Saku get talked into playing in the school talent show. Saku on drums and Koyuki on guitar, but when Tanabe gets cold feet Koyuki has to step up and sing too.
Koyuki is getting better with his music, but other aspects of his life are about to take an interesting turn as well. Chiba has a run in with Rikiya and learns something pretty interesting about Jaguar situation. Even worse, Izumi decides to have a nice long talk with Maho.
My Opinion
Once again Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad is a great anime. I am starting to run into the spoiler dilemma. I don’t want to mention too much of the story. I do have something I’m willing to risk spoilers to talk about.
I was glad to see some resolution to a couple of Koyuki’s problems. Though the thing with Masaru irked me. I’m thinking “Tell him to take a freakin’ hike, take the beating and get on with your life” while Koyuki is taking orders the whole time. Ugh. I suppose that was intentional. You gotta have conflict or there’s no story. Right?
Extras
We have another commentary track on this disc. Unlike the first one, which was full of real insight into the industry, this one is most actors swearing. Yeah, it’s pretty amusing listening to people cut loose, heady with the freedom of knowing most of the audience are past puberty. I just wish more of the episodes had these tracks.
Is it worth it?
Dude, it’s Beck. Of course it’s worth it.
