Multi-Volume Manga Experiment

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Sgt Frog Collected Manga Volumes 1-3 Cover

The last time I went shopping for manga I decided to check out one of TokyoPop’s multi-volume books. The manga I chose for the test was Sgt Frog by Mine Yoshizaki. I’d liked the anime and wanted to check out the manga, but it wasn’t one I loved enough that I wanted to build a collection of the different volumes. It seemed like a good choice.

Why bother?

I wanted to try out the multi-volume manga because I thought it would be a good way to try a new manga series. With anime I need to see a few episodes to make up my mind. That’s not as important with manga, but it does play a part.

I also wanted to find out if the size of the books had any effect on the reading experience. That was a major point for me. One of the reasons I enjoy manga is the reading experience. Reading a manga volume has elements similar to reading comics as well as reading a book. I wanted to find out if the larger size of the multi-volume manga upset that balance.

The last reason is price. At $9 to $12 per volume, manga can get expensive very quickly. At $9.99 each, the first three volumes of Sgt Frog would cost around $30 purchased separately. The list price of the multi-volume version is $12.99. That saved me $16.98. (All prices calculated without tax.)

My Opinion

When it comes to collecting manga I love, I’d probably still buy the individual volumes. That’s just a personal preference though. As for manga I just want to read or review, I’d have no problems buying the multi-volume version. It’s the same story in the same format, it’s just in a thicker book.

For me the reading experience was effected somewhat because of the thickness. I’m very careful when I read a book. I don’t like to open it too far and crack the spine. It’s tough not to do that with a manga that’s almost 2 inches thick. If you’re not as picky as I am, then that shouldn’t be a problem. Once I got used to that I enjoyed it as much as I would enjoy the three volumes separately.

The price is great. It’s almost like a 3 for 1 sale. I paid $3 more and got 2 more volumes. That’s a great deal. I’d like to see more multi-volume versions become available. I will definitely be buying more of these.

Are multi-volume manga worth it?

I think they’re great. The issues of reading experience and manga collecting are subjective. You might want to try one out with a series you’re not completely in love with first. The price is great. I’d recommend multi-volume manga to any otaku on a budget.

Do you want Free Stuff?

Friday, January 11th, 2008

I’ve got some questions for you. Would you be interested in more giveaways on AnimeFansOnline? I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about contests and giveaways lately. Maybe it’s because I’m doing a book giveaway at Fanatic Space. Whatever got me thinking about it, I’ve come up with a couple of ideas.

Grab Bag

Grab Bag

I’ve been buying a lot of manga since I started writing for Anime Fans Online. I kinda have to. I can’t review it otherwise. So far I’m not important enough to get review copies from the manga publishers. If that changes then this idea gets even better.

I’m thinking about starting a regular grab bag giveaway on Anime Fans Online. I’ll take the manga and stuff that I get for reviews and put it in a grab bag. Every so often I’ll write up a grab bag post, all comments on it would be entered to win some free manga. The prize is a random pick. I don’t know what your getting and neither do you, but… hey, free stuff!

Gift Certificates

The old standby, I’ve done it before. Enter and win $XX amount at Amazon, Barnes and Noble or some other online store. This is a no brainer. It’s easy for me to do, and you can buy what you want. If I decide to do this, don’t expect a huge amount. It’ll probably be in the $15 to $25 range. That’s enough to buy a couple manga or an anime DVD. Not bad.

What do you think?

I’d really appreciate your input on this. So I’ve got a couple of questions for you.

  • Think the grab bag is a good idea or would you rather get a gift certificate?
  • What about doing both on an alternating schedule?
  • Do you have any other ideas for giveaways?

Leave a comment and let me know what you think.

8 Months of Anime Fans Online

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

As of yesterday, January 8 2008, Anime Fans Online is 8 months old. I thought it was worth taking a look back.

May 2007

I was still new to the blog format when I started writing for AFO. I’m still learning, and I hope I’m still getting better at it. Looking at my first few post makes me realize how much I’ve learned. I’ll always be grateful to 451Press for helping me with that.

In my first review for AFO I covered the Japanese version of the Powerpuff Girls. It’s kind of an odd show if you watched the original on Cartoon Network.

I even tried my hand at writing an editorial type post. I wrote a post about the English dub of Ghost Stories. Well, it’s more of a rant really. I’m still kind of surprised that sort of thing still happens during the dubbing process.

June 2007

After writing for a while I changed things up. I introduced Otaku Lessons with an explanation of the difference between Hentai and Ecchi. I still get some search hits from that one. I guess hentai is a pretty popular search term.

I even started to post some Youtube videos.

Beck Opening Theme

Video by Youtube user kaoru1

I still love that song. The Beat Crusaders rock.

July 2007

I tried to get some feedback from all of you. I tried a not so subtle anime poll. Then I just came out and asked what you wanted.

I even tried to jump on the lolcat bandwagon. Didn’t really work out.

August 2007

I had fun putting together the post about Gigantor and Big O. I think that’s when I stopped agonizing over the posts and started to relax a little bit. I think that helped.

That’s also when I found the Genshiken manga. I love that manga.

September 2007

Victor Mignogna. Voice actor, musician and all around nice guy.

My first working trip to a con was Dragon*Con 2007. I met Vic Mignogna and quickly became a fan.

I also picked up some goodies for AFO readers. I held a contest and gave away 2 autographed copies of the Fullmetal Alchemist movie Conqueror of Shambala.

I had some problems getting those to the winners. I’m just grateful they were so understanding about it.

October 2007

I got my first request for a post. A friend of mine wanted some suggestions about anime she could watch with her daughter. I found a few family friendly anime for her.

Soon I got another request, so I started asking questions again. It’s a lot easier to write a blog when you know what your readers want. See how much I’ve learned? *L*

November 2007

In November I posted my thoughts on anime piracy. I’d been thinking about that for a while. I still believe it would work.

I also posted some Death Note wallpaper. It’s simple, but I like it. I’m still using it on my computer.

Light, Ryuk and L of Death Note

December 2007

I wrote a lot of reviews in December, but I did find some interesting news. I also found the very first manga that I really hate.

January 2008

Well, this month has just started. I’ve only written a few posts. I’m not sure what 2008 will bring. I’m just hoping to see some awesome anime.

Never Judge an Anime by the Manga Cover.

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007
Koizumi and Otani from Lovely Complex.

Yesterday I did a review of a manga that I’d already reviewed the anime of. Is that redundant? I don’t think so.

Been there, Seen That

Most of the books I picked up this week are mangas that I’ve already seen the anime of. Pumpkin Scissors Volume 1, Love Com Volume 1 and Read or Die Volume 2. I like to check out other versions of the stuff I like, or the stuff I almost like. That last bit is probably more important. A lot of times something that I almost like the anime of will be something I really like in manga, and the other way around too.

Think about all the times you’ve complained because the anime was different from a manga you love. (You know you have, don’t deny it.) So if an anime is only so-so, shouldn’t you check out the manga? It could be a lot better.

Love Com Manga Volume 1 Cover

2 Sides to Everything

I’ve done my share of griping about anime versions. Ok, I’ve done more than my share. I even started writing an anime blog so I’d have a reason to bitch about anime. I mean, what’s the deal with making someone a pop star in the anime when it wasn’t needed in the manga? (I’m looking at you Love Hina)

It only makes sense to try both versions before you make up your mind about a story. For instance, you might remember my less than rave review of the Loveless manga. I really don’t like the manga, but I added the anime to my list of DVDs to rent. Why would I do that? Because I might like the anime even though I hated the manga.

Or maybe I’m just a sucker for punishment.

Books-A-Million Peddles Smut to Kids

Monday, December 10th, 2007

AnimeNewsNetwork, my favorite anime news source, posted about a South Carolina Books-A-Million store moving it’s manga section.

Absolute Boyfriend Manga Volume 1 Cover

How many 17-19 year olds shop in the kid’s section? Yeah, that’s what I thought.

Keep Moving

What I find interesting is why they decided to move it. Not the part about some mom spazzing out, but the fact that they put Absolute Boyfriend in Kids-A-Million, the kid’s section, to start with. I reviewed the first volume of Absolute Boyfriend. I can tell you that it is in no way suitable for children. The rating on the back of this manga says very clearly “Older Teen”.

How many 17-19 year olds shop in the kid’s section? Yeah, that’s what I thought.

Absolute Boyfriend might not be smut, but it’s not appropriate for the kid’s section of a bookstore either. This is one instance where I have to agree with the outraged parents. Books-A-Million screwed up. Big Time.

Silly Bookstore, Manga’s (Not Just) for Kids

Where I shop the manga is with the other graphic novels, located near the sci-fi/fantasy/horror/gaming section. That’s in the main part of the store where it belongs. All the manga displays I’ve seen in the kids section have been age appropriate. Score +1 for Barnes and Noble. I guess that’s why it bugs me that Books-A-Million would just toss all the manga, including those meant for much older readers, in the kid’s section.

Growth Spurt

ANN goes on to say that Books-A-Million have helped the growth of manga in the U.S.. Now they’ve helped to hurt manga. With their irresponsible practices they’re perpetuating the idea that just because it looks like a comic book then it’s only for kids.

Better check the anime in the kids section. There might be some hentai in there. Even worse, Uncut Sailor Moon.

Witchblade

Friday, November 16th, 2007

I recently watched the first few episodes of the anime version of Witchblade. I didn’t know what to expect. I’m kind of familiar with the comic it’s based on, but it wasn’t something I bought regularly. I think that helped since I heard some Witchblade fans weren’t happy. Lucky for me I wasn’t coming into it with many expectations.

Anime Witchblade wielder Masane Amaha

Story

The Witchblade is a legendary weapon of enormous strength. In battle it grants it bearer superhuman abilities. Masane Amaha bears the Witchblade now.

Masane has no memory of what happened six years ago. That’s when she was found at ground zero of a catastrophe that sank part of Tokyo. With her they found a baby they believed to be hers. Now she’s caught between a government agency and a shady corporation when all she wants is a normal life with her daughter.

My opinion

Witchblade Comic Issue 80

The fan service is just part of Witchblade.

I like it. It has a decent story. I like what they’ve done with the power struggle between a questionable branch of government and a corporation trying to control the Witchblade. Some of the characters are pretty interesting too. Masane and her daughter, Rihoko, are likable. Even after only a few episodes I already like Yusuke Tozawa, a freelance reporter that gets caught up with Masana and Rihoko.

The action is pretty good, but seemed kind of short. Maybe she just hasn’t gone up against anything very strong yet. I hope that’s why the action was lacking. As short as it was, I liked what I saw.

When the Witchblade takes over there’s a little fanservice, but that’s a given. The fan service is just part of Witchblade. Just look at the comics. While it has it’s share of T&A, the anime barely(><) comes close to some of the comics in the area of exposure.

I’m definitely putting this on my list of anime to rent. If it gets any better I’m gonna have to buy it. I’ll let you know what I think after I’ve seen more of it.

Ghost Stories DVD 2

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

I’m not going to bother calling this a review. It’s a rant, plain and simple. One of my earlier posts here at AnimeFansOnline was about the first Ghost Stories DVD. I liked it. Kind of. I was surprised that such extreme changes were made and there was no indication of it on the packaging.

Ghost Stories DVD Volume 2. “Hurry! Before ADV gets Lucky Star!”

I figured the rest of the DVDs in the series were about the same. I could get 2 different shows on the same DVD. I was wrong. While the subtitled version remained the same, the English dub got much worse. It’s like everyone involved knew they were screwing it up and decided to screw it up as much as possible. Gotta give ‘em that, they had the balls to really run with it.

Entendre, and make it a double.

Ghost Stories DVD Volume 2 “I love computer class.”

This joke isn’t on the DVD. That surprises me.

The first DVD had a few jokes that relied on innuendo. Not that bad, right? A couple of almost dirty jokes in the entire DVD. It could have been worse. Then here comes number 2. The second DVD of Ghost Stories cranks up the innuendo until the knob breaks off. That’s a good one. Think I should apply for a job at ADV? Hmmm… Nah, too subtle for them.

Seriously, it was bad enough that one voice actor asked to use a pseudonym. I won’t out them here, and any comments that do will be edited or deleted. I respect the fact that they lived up to their obligations even after the found out what was happening. The rating on the DVD case says PG when it really should be for older viewers.

If you’re like me and you kind of liked the first one, rent this one before you buy it. It’s much worse than the first one is. I will not be buying the rest. Animax did a serious version of this called Ghosts at School. So if you’re interested you might want to see if you can find that one instead.

How Anime Can Increase Profits And Stop Piracy

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

How can anime production companies and anime distributors increase their profits while decreasing piracy at the same time? It would take something huge like government legislation right? Not really. I think the answer is simple, direct and effective. Unfortunately, it will also never happen.

Lucky Star Fansub

Over on FanaticSpace I recently wrote up some of my opinions about making online TV workable. The more I thought about it, the more I’m convinced that it would work for anime. Anime would be the perfect type of TV show to make it work. Everything is already in place. There are already people that can make it happen, and I’d bet they would be very happy to do it.

Official Fansubs and Revenue Streaming

The idea is simple. If you want to get rid of piracy you need to replace it with something. In the case of anime, official anime streaming sites. Have an official, and legal, version of the anime available. The official one can make money in a number of ways. A subscription service might work, but then you still have to compete with pirates providing it for free. I believe the targeted commercials I talked about in my other post would work best. This means the service is free to the viewer, but the companies would still make money.

Timing is Key

Unofficial fansub groups have an advantage over companies like ADV and Viz that license anime. Time. A fansub group can have an English translated version of a show on the net a week or two after the show airs in Japan. That’s months faster than most licensed anime and years faster than some. Fansubs are available to the fans first. That’s quite an advantage.

This method would work to make money for both the production companies and the licensing companies. The licensing companies would work like fansub groups. Take the original show and add a translated subtitle. If they work closely with the anime production companies they could have subtitles versions ready by the time the anime show hits the air in Japan. That’s quicker than even the fastest fansub group can do it. The official version hits the net first, so fansubs no longer have the advantage of an early release date.

That’s a replacement for the fansubs, but how do you get rid of them? That answer is the simplest of all.

Hire Fansub Groups

You heard me. Hire the fansub groups to do the official translations. They’re experienced and some of them do a great job. That kills two birds with one stone. Fansub groups are a workforce waiting for a job. If you hire them then they no longer compete with you.

I’m not saying fansubbers should replace the translators already working in an official capacity. I’m saying that additional translators would be needed, and fansubbers already know how to do the job. If this were ever implemented there would be a huge amount of new anime to translate. That’s great for the fans. Its also great for the companies, because now they’re making money from fansubs instead of competing with them.

I would really like to hear your thoughts about this. Do you think it would work? Can you think of any improvements?

What Writer’s Strike?

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

Nothing good on.

Well, it looks like the writer’s strike has started. Don’t worry, it’s not anime or manga writers going on strike. Shoot, they just got a union. That would be a bit too soon. Nope, this is a strike of American film and TV writers. So what are the American people gonna watch?

Anime

I thought I’d help out by pointing people towards some anime programs they might like based on the TV shows they might be missing soon. Now would be a good time to sign up for an anime rental plan. If you don’t already have one that is.

Medical Drama Like shows like House or ER? Then check this out. Yeah, this category is pretty thin. Unless you want hentai. Lot’s of naughty nurses in Japan apparently.

  • Black Jack A doctor with a mysterious past who solves impossible cases. If the dude has a cane I think he might be House.
  • Crime and Suspense

  • Case Closed Ok, the thing where he gets turned into a kid is a bit of a stretch, but no more than that freakin’ impossible hologram on Bones. Plus, the crimes in Case Closed are more believable.
  • City Hunter This one is more action oriented. A classic with tons of shows and movies.
  • Sci-Fi

  • Star Blazers Another classic. Since Battlestar Galactica has been pushed back you might want to check this one out. A lone ship in search of a mythical planet during an unwinnable galactic war. Sound familiar?
  • Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex Ghost in the shell is a great replacement for the Bionic Woman. Shoot, it’s better than the Bionic Woman, you should be watching it anyway. The second season, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG plays on Cartoon Network’s [adult swim] programming block.
  • The Office Yeah, this is a category of it’s own. There’s really no substitute for The Office. Even the original British show is very different.

  • Salaryman Kintaro…the strangest salaryman in all of Japan.
  • Hataraki Man Slice of life in an office.

If the strike goes on for a while, you won’t have anything better to watch anyway. So check out some anime.

What am I missing?

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

After writing yesterday’s post I got a few comments. One response in particular caught my attention. I’d like to point it out and ask for your opinion.

rech Says:
October 24th, 2007 at 7:25 pm
I was wondering if you’ve already made a review for Detective Conan aka Case Closed… I so love that anime….:)

Reader Opinions

I told ‘em I’d try to find a couple of the DVDs and give it an in depth review.

I thought about it some more. This comment, just a simple question, made me ask myself a few things. I’d like to share some of those questions with you. Your opinions matters a lot to me.

Why haven’t I already reviewed Detective Conan/Case Closed?

There are a couple of answers to this, but the more I think about it the less they hold up. I could say it’s because it’s an older show. I’ve written about show that have been around longer, at least in the U. S., so that doesn’t work. I could say it’s because there are already lots of reviews for it online. Once again, that answer doesn’t stick. I’ve written about some pretty popular shows that have been discussed pretty much everywhere.

Should I write about older shows?

I have written about shows that aren’t really new. Most of those were new to me though. On the few occasions I wrote about an older show that I watched when it was new, there was something that prodded me into discussing it. I’m starting to think that I need to cover the older shows more often. Just because I watched Tenchi Muyo! when it was on Toonami doesn’t mean the newer fans have seen it. I’ve gotten caught. The trap was looking for things to share with my readers by discussing it with people who already know what I’m talking about.

How much of the older stuff should I start writing about?

This is the tricky bit. Should I write about older titles a certain amount each month? Should I just ignore how old something is when I’m deciding what to talk about? This is the toughest question I need to answer, and this is where I need your help. There’s a chance that I’ll be writing about things you’re already familiar with. Is that a bad thing? There’s also a chance that I’ll write about something that you missed the first time around. How often do you want to see posts and reviews of older anime and manga?

If there’s something you want to see, just ask.

I value your opinions. If you ask about something I do my best to answer. When Amber asked for some recommendations for family friendly anime I wrote a post about that. I’m sure she’s not the only parent looking for something she can enjoy with her daughter.

So, what would you like to see on Anime Fans Online?

19 Anime You Must See

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

I realize I’ve been doing a lot of manga reviews lately. So I thought I’d give you a break and do something different today. This is a list of anime that I love. They’re listed alphabetically, more or less. I don’t think I could list them based on how good they are. If I tried to do that, the list would change every day. I’m sure everyone would have a different list. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Anime List

  • Azumanga Daioh
Sweet and funny with wonderful characters.

  • Bleach
It’s like an animated supernatural samurai movie.

  • City Hunter
Great action with deep characters. City Hunter has some good humor too.

  • Chobits
I like the manga better, but the anime was fairly true to it. Anything by CLAMP is worth checking out.

  • Cowboy Bebop
Great sci-fi western with lots of action and deep story.

  • Excel Saga
The best anime parody of anime ever.

  • FLCL
    Bizzare and cool.

  • Fullmetal Alchemist
Vic is right, this story can be summed up in one word. Sacrifice.

  • Genshiken
Great look at Otaku. I just can’t figure out which one I’m most like.

  • Grave of the Fireflies
Don’t watch it unless you have something funny to follow it. It’s sweet, but very very sad.

  • Gunslinger Girl
Beautiful art and a moving story.

  • Happy Lesson
Sweet story with some great humor.

  • Hellsing
A great action horror anime. Very very cool.

  • Love Hina
Another one where the manga is better. Some big changes made to the anime. It’s still good though.

  • Lucky Star
Very little action, but very funny. The opening theme is addictive.

  • Manabi Straight
Sweet story with some good humor. The character design bugs me though. They graduate high school looking like they should be in pre school.

  • Project A-Ko
Several versions of this one. I like ‘em all though.

  • Read or Die
I saw the TV show before seeing the movie. The movie is supposed to be first I believe. I liked watching it backwards, it had more surprises that way.

  • Witch Hunter Robin
Beautiful art and a pretty good story. If you drink coffee, you will want an espresso drink very badly when watching this show.

I’m sure there are some I’m forgetting. Anytime someone asks me for recommendations there are always a few that slip through the cracks.

What’s on your list? I love to find new favorites to add to mine.

Elitism in anime fandom.

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

Now that anime is growing in popularity a lot of the fans are turning into anime snobs. They go on about how they were an anime fan before (insert anime title) became popular. They bash different anime titles because they’re recognized by non-fans. Basically, they look down their noses at you and talk about how they’re better than you because they like good anime and you like garbage.

Vageta from DragonBall Z.

…they look down their noses at you and talk about how they’re better than you…

What is their deal? Why do some people feel the need to be superior? Dude, it’s a freaking cartoon, get over yourself.

Most Hated Anime

  • DragonBall Z. Often ridiculed by anime snobs for being drawn out and brainless with very little real story behind it. Well, duh. No it’s not Ghost in the Shell, it’s meant for adolescent boys. What do boys like? Muscled up guys with cool powers kicking the crap out of each other.
  • Pokemon. Often viewed as commercialism at it’s worst, and there is some merit to that. However, Transformers did the same thing and how many people do you see complaining about that?
  • Sailor Moon. (Cartoon Network version) Yes, we know it was edited. Yes, that’s a bad thing. It did get a lot of girls interested in anime though. The same way DBZ did with boys. That is a good thing.
  • Anything not from Japan. Any non-Japanese artist, no matter how good, that is influenced by anime should be shot. At least, that’s what some of the super cool anime fans seem to think.
  • Anything fun. If it’s not serious and full of deep meaning then it’s worthless? Dude not everything can be as good, or depressing, as Grave of the Fireflies.

Elitist fans are a product of the growing popularity and spreading mainstream acceptance of anime. That’s something that a lot of stuck up fans won’t like hearing, but it’s true.

Too much fanservice?

Monday, October 1st, 2007

When does fan service go too far? At what point does it start to distract from the anime or manga? I’ve been thinking about that lately. I’m not sure I have any answers, but I’d like to talk to you about it.

Normally I don’t mind fan service. If it’s done well, I might even enjoy it. Sometimes it can be too much. If I’m watching an anime that uses it over and over I get tired of it. It starts to become distracting. It can ruin an otherwise good show.

Daphne in Brilliant Blue, and not much else.

Cover of Daphne in Brilliant Blue, Volume 7.

… chasing down dangerous criminals, but they’re almost naked.

I recently rented a show that had an interesting story, Daphne in Brilliant Blue. I’m not saying it’s perfect, lord knows the shapes of the characters’ heads in that show bug me, but that’s something I can deal with. The biggest problem I have with it is costuming. The only reason I can think of for that costume design is fan service. The women are supposed to be chasing down dangerous criminals, but they’re almost naked. That makes no sense at all. You don’t see Dog the Bounty Hunter running after a fugitive with his butt jiggling in the breeze. I’m sure there are a few ladies who’d enjoy that though.

What do you think? When does fan service get out of hand? Have you seen any anime or manga that have been ruined by it? Was it ruined because it was too much, or just badly done? I’d seriously like to know what you think about it.

Maybe I’m just getting old.

Negi Springfield is going live.

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

I love the Negima manga. The anime is pretty good too. Now there’s going to be even more Negima to check out. Yep, live action Negima. It looks like all the characters are going to be there too. It is a good thing though? I’m not so sure.

I’ve got nothing against live action versions of anime or manga. You might remember my write up about the newest Cutey Honey TV show. Live action can be great, or it can be horrible. Just look at some of the comic books movies that have come out of Hollywood in the last few years.

When you decide to do something like this there are some very important decisions that have to be made. Will it try to mimic the visual style of the manga or anime, or will it try to make it look more realistic. What characters and story elements will you focus on? Will you change the sex of the title character?

Wait… what?

These are the questions that makers of the live action Negima may have asked. At least it seems that way looking at the trailer.

Raise your hand if you think Negi looks like a chick cosplaying Harry Potter.

That’s the problem. It looks like a cosplay group made this. Most of the casting looks way off. Sure, I can see how Chachamaru would be a problem, but she’s not the only one. C’mon, at least cast a few of the main characters right.

All that said, I’d still watch it. It is Negima after all.

Got otaku links?

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

451 Press recently gave us the ability to put links in the sidebar. So far the only thing I’ve added is a link to the FMA contest page to make it easier to find. I’ve thought about adding some other links, but I’m not sure what I should be linking to. That’s where this post comes in.

If you know about a great anime, manga, cosplay or any kind of good otaku site please let me know. I’d like to find out what kind of sites you like, so that I can link to sites you’d enjoy. I thought this would be better than just going through the first couple of pages of a google search. This site is for us, so it should have our favorites. Right?

So dust off those otaku bookmarks and send ‘em in. You can leave a comment, use the contact page or e-mail me at jason DOT wigley AT 451press DOT net.

Feel free to suggest anything that you think would fit in with Anime Fans Online. If you have an anime or manga site, send that in too.
