Mezzo DSA

Mezzo DSA is a bit different than the Mezzo Forte OVA. They’re not big differences, but they add up to a slightly different anime. Maybe that’s because it’s an ongoing series and we get to know the characters better. Maybe it’s because it was made for TV and some changes had to be made.
A lot of it is the same though. There’s still lots of great action. The fight scenes are still imaginative. There are still naked boobs, sometimes. Lots of people swear. Lots of things still explode. Isn’t that what’s really important?
Story
Kenichi Kurokawa, Tomohisa Harada and Mikura Suzuki make up a group called the Danger Service Agency, the DSA. They’re an odd mix. An ex-cop, a tech specialist and an amazingly gifted fighter. For the right price you can hire them to do dangerous jobs.
The dangerous jobs that the DSA get hired to do range of jobs. There’s the basic A-Team type of stuff, such as removing yakuza from their headquarters in a condemned apartment building. Then there’s some freaky supernatural cases, like being hired by a ghost.
My Opinion
I like the different things that the DSA gets hired for. The paranormal stuff kind of surprised me to start with. I really wasn’t expecting that. Once I accepted that it was possible in the world of this anime, I had no problem with it. I just wasn’t expecting that sort of stuff.
Since the TV show is more recent than the OVA the art is a bit different. It’s not much, but it is noticeable. I prefer the art in the TV show. It seems like it’s a bit more clean, more polished. That’s not always a good thing. Polish can be overdone. In this case I like it.
Is it worth it?
Yep. Mezzo DSA is a good action anime with quite a bit of humor. It’s worth a rental at the very least. I’d recommend checking out Mezzo DSA.
