Pumpkin Scissors Anime

Story
Three years after a costly war with the Republic of Frost, the Royal Empire is still rebuilding. To this end the Imperial Army State Section III, known as Pumpkin Scissors, is dedicated to war relief. Whether it’s stopping soldiers turned bandit or rebuilding the public infrastructure, Pumpkin Scissors will be there to make a difference.
Comparing Apples and Pumpkins
I’ve see a couple of people compare Pumpkin Scissors to Fullmetal Alchemist. After seeing a few episodes, I think I can see what they mean. There may be some similarity to Fullmetal Alchemist in the setting and military focus. Shoot, the animation even resembles it some. Should we compare these shows? I don’t think so.
I’m trying very hard not to compare Pumpkin Scissors to Fullmetal Alchemist, simply because I’m afraid of being disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t dislike Pumpkin Scissors. I just think that such comparisons are unfair. Even a really good show can suffer when compared to one you already love. And I love me some FMA.
So, setting those comparisons aside…
Pumpkin Scissors is great. On the surface it’s a fun show with some action and humor. Underneath it takes a look at the aftermath of war on a country and it’s people. A pretty heavy subject. I’m interested to see where Pumpkin Scissors goes with this subject.
Is it worth it?
Yep, it is. So far I like this show and I believe it will only get better. It’s one of those shows that you just know is going to be good after you see one episode. Whether or not you’ll like it, that’s a different story. Everyone likes different things. I suggest you watch Pumpkin Scissors to find out if you like it. I know I do.
